Hi Kylie, could you introduce yourself in a few words?
Hello, my name is Kylie, I'm 20 years old, I live in Carry-le-Rouet and I'm in engineering school at INSA Lyon in the high-level sports section.
Why and since when do you do wing?
I have been doing Wing since August 2021, I was following a sports project in Olympic windsurfing which no longer corresponded to my size and I found in Wing a discipline which perfectly resembles me and which always makes me want to sail and to progress!
Can you explain a bit about the conditions in which you do wing?
On the blue coast, we have all the conditions, little wind like the very strong mistral. In winter, there are often more than 20 knots of Mistral or South-East so either flat conditions or nice swells: it's a nice playground! In summer, we have a thermal which is really nice!
What gear do you sail with?
Being more comfortable in racing, my favorite board is the Glide 5'0 but I also really like the Trix for freestyle.
What is your favorite spot?
I have two favorite spots: the baie du Rouet in Carry-le-Rouet where I have learned everything since I was 9 years old and the lagoon of Bonaire where I had the chance to go many times to sail with my family and make rapid progress.
How long have you been competing and what are your goals on the GWA?
I have almost always competed. Since I was 11 years old, I have evolved on the Techno293 regatta windsurfing board to the Olympic supports RSX and iQFOiL in the hope pole before changing course and putting myself fully into the Wing. Loving the competition, it seemed natural to me to embark on the GWA circuit. My objectives for the moment are mainly on the race where I train hard to be able to make a podium soon. In freestyle, I have a lot of fun training but I'm a little behind because it's really new for me, I hope to be able to reach the semi-finals soon!
