Nouveau boîtier US en carbone moulé

Presentation

Discover our Glide SW V2, a blend of glide, versatility, and accessibility, in a compact shape.

For this new version of our Short & Wide mode Glide board, the Glide SW V2 incorporates significant improvements in shape, box, and finishing. Its new shape is characterized by a V-shaped tail and a reworked rocker line. It promotes better water flow, thus reducing drag and increasing tolerance to touches. Combined with the width and generous volumes of the board, take-offs are easier and more accessible, while also being more efficient.

The Glide SW V2 is offered with our brand-new molded carbon US box, developed by Takoon. Stiffer, longer, and equipped with double entries: this innovation is truly a future standard in the foil industry!

To meet the specific needs of riders, the Glide SW V2 now comes in half sizes, giving you a choice of 11 different volumes, from 4’6 (60L) to 5’4 (110L), with only 5L difference between each.

While we already offered unique customization in the series board industry, aka custom colors, today we go even further by offering new colors, as well as bi-color boards with visible carbon. The icing on the cake? A brand-new high-end varnish that enhances the boards and gives them an intense depth.

Accessible, high-performing, but above all versatile: choosing a Glide SW V2 means choosing a unique board that can accompany you in your progression, as well as in waveriding, freeride, freerace, or even freestyle.

The Glide SW V2 is a versatile and accessible board that can easily appeal to everyone, as long as you choose a volume suitable for your size, level, and practice. Compared to the Glide V3, the SW V2 is ideal for heavier or taller riders who have enough technique to appreciate and exploit the full potential of smaller boards.

A perfect combination of performance and compact dimensions, the Glide SW V3 can do it all! Freeride, waveriding, freestyle... it's clearly our most versatile board, which you can use as a single board to try out all aspects of wingfoiling. The Glide SW V2 is aimed at intermediate to expert riders looking for a high-performing, versatile, progressive, and easy-to-use board.

With the evolution of the sport, riders' needs are becoming more precise, especially when it comes to choosing the volume of their board. Whether aiming for a sinker, a board with weight-volume balance, or conversely, a board with good buoyancy reserve, experienced wingfoilers now know what they want. Sometimes, a 10L difference between two sizes is too much: one may hesitate between two models, having to decide between having too much volume or not enough...

That's why at Takoon, to meet this demand, we have chosen to add half sizes compared to the previous range: our Glide SW V2 is now available in 11 different sizes, from 4’6 (60L) to 5’4 (110L), with only a 5L difference between each volume! This wide range allows you to refine your choice and get a board that suits you best, tailored to your size, skill level, or the specific use you have in mind.

New molded carbon US box.

The Glide SW V2 boards are equipped with our new molded carbon US boxes, developed in-house by Takoon. Thanks to their unmatched rigidity, these new boxes provide unparalleled foil connection, perfect force transmission, and an unparalleled feel.

Indeed, our new foil boxes are made from pre-impregnated carbon, polymerized at high pressure and high temperature in a steel mold. This process produces a box with tightly compacted long carbon fibers, making it simply indestructible and ultra-stiff. Precision machining completes the piece by adding the double US Box rails. These boxes have been specifically designed to integrate with our foil boards, without any unnecessary additions.

With this construction, if we compare our carbon boxes to traditional ones like Futures, the gain in rigidity and robustness is considerable. Traditional boxes are typically made of injected plastic loaded with short fiberglass fibers, which can deform under stress. On the water, this translates into a latency in foil responsiveness, whether for pumping, carving, or maneuvers. With our new carbon boxes, force transmission is instantaneous and the connection is ultra-stiff.

Extended carbon boxes with double openings.

Longer, these new boxes provide much more freedom in placing your foil. They come in 2 sizes: 33 cm and 38 cm depending on the size of the board. They are thus 6 cm and 11 cm longer than Futures boxes. This allows you to fine-tune your adjustments to find the personal position that suits you best. With these longer boxes, you have much more freedom in placing your foil, enabling you to refine your settings without ever having to hit the front or back stops.

These new boxes feature a double opening on the rails for faster assembly: no need to completely remove your bolts from the plate, simply loosen the screws, slide the foil into the openings, tighten the screws, and you're good to go! And less assembly time means more time on the water!

With our new carbon boxes, you'll be able to integrate seamlessly with your foil. Your sensations will be heightened, and your control will be total. These carbon boxes even give the impression of using a smaller front wing, as they make the whole setup more lively and radical.

Shape

The Glide SW V2 retains all the best features of the first version while bringing significant improvements to the rocker and tail for enhanced accessibility and glide. However, we have maintained its compact and voluminous shape, with a uniform volume distribution around the board's center of gravity.

The goal of the Glide SW V2 shape is to optimize glide in a short board. It's not a new concept; the shorter the board, the more maneuverable, responsive, and efficient pumping becomes. Where short boards can be intimidating is in their challenging take-off, lack of glide, and instability, typically reserved for advanced riders. This is not the case with our Glide SW V2, which, thanks to its width and generous volume, offers an ultra-efficient take-off in a compact shape.

Additionally, its deck is concave and slightly hollowed to bring the rider closer to the foil, while lowering the center of gravity for better stability and control. On the hull side, we have the triple concave specially optimized for easy and efficient take-off.

V-Tail

The Glide SW V2 preserves all the outstanding qualities of the initial version while introducing significant enhancements to the rocker and tail, resulting in improved accessibility and glide. Nevertheless, we have upheld its compact and voluminous design, ensuring an even distribution of volume around the board's center of gravity.

The primary objective of the Glide SW V2's design is to maximize glide performance in a shorter board. This principle is not novel; shorter boards inherently offer greater maneuverability, responsiveness, and efficiency in pumping. However, shorter boards can also present challenges such as difficult take-offs, limited glide, and instability, typically experienced by advanced riders. With the Glide SW V2, these concerns are mitigated, as its ample width and generous volume facilitate an exceptionally efficient take-off despite its compact form.

Moreover, the deck features a concave and slightly recessed design, bringing the rider closer to the foil and lowering the center of gravity for enhanced stability and control. On the hull side, the triple concave design is meticulously crafted to optimize easy and efficient take-offs.

The rocker line.

In line with this V-Tail concept, we have completely reworked the rocker line on this Glide SW V2. The board essentially features two rockers: the central line remains relatively flat, with a slight scoop on the nose to quickly gain planing speed, while the rockers on the outer edges of the board are much more pronounced. These lateral rocker lines with more pronounced curves provide additional tolerance to the board: it lifts out of the water more easily without nose-diving, forgives touch-downs more readily, and generates much less drag.

Around the central line, the outer rockers act like two channels that promote water flow towards the tail, improving responsiveness during take-off. In short, the combination of this shape gives the Glide SW V2 a highly accessible and user-friendly aspect, with even more glide while maintaining its compact shape.

Finishes and varnish

Our Glide SW V2 boasts high-quality finishes, including the use of a new premium varnish. This varnish enhances the new colors available on the Glide SW V2, giving them a much deeper and more beautiful appearance.

Colours

Since the Glide V2, we have offered a unique customization option in the series board industry: custom colors! Today, with the Glide SW V2, we go even further by offering bi-color boards in addition to custom colors. This is an artistic process where the outcome varies from one board to another, maintaining a beautiful visible carbon effect while adding a touch of color. In short, your board will be completely unique.

Materials

The raw materials and equipment of the Glide SW V2, from carbon fiber to the pad, are selected for their quality, as well as for the proximity and sourcing of our suppliers. The Glide SW V2 is a full carbon board, built around a foam core of our own Takoon design. This hydrophobic foam boasts unmatched mechanical properties and compression rate, making our Glide SW V2 a durable and repairable board.

Infusion

The Glide SW V2 is a full carbon board made using vacuum infusion. This technique allows us to achieve the best fiber/resin ratio, resulting in an ultra-stiff, lightweight, and durable board.

Made in Europe

We are proud to produce all our rigid boards in Portugal, in Peniche. The Glide V3 is "Made In Europe" since all our suppliers are European. Our local production, close to legendary surf spots, allows us to be extremely efficient in R&D. This enables us to quickly design, produce, and test our boards.

Equipment

Pad EVA

3.5mm: This is the thickness of the EVA pad on our Glide SW V2. Multi-piece, it provides even more grip and comfort while riding, while promising better water drainage on the deck.

Carrying handle

To facilitate handling and carrying, the Glide SW V2 is equipped with an ergonomic handle located on the hull. It allows you to carry your board and its foil with just one hand, leaving the other free to carry your wing.

Footstrap inserts

For those who prefer riding with footstraps, multiple footstrap inserts are available on the Glide SW V2. Our Takoon neoprene straps, sold separately, offer excellent support and comfort while sailing. Comfortable and lightweight, they are available in single or V configurations.
